Hillcrest School

MY VOICE

I have been a student at Hillcrest for two years. In my life, I have been to four different schools.  The problems I had were both with friends and school work.  I was being picked on and having bad things said to me.  I had trouble understanding math, spelling and had trouble with handwriting too.

Hillcrest has helped me.  The kids here are all different in some way.  They don’t pick on each other because they know that we are all different, and that’s what makes us all special.  The teachers teach one-on-one and never just explain an assignment then just leave you.  They are always there to help you if you need it.

MY VOICE

Before I came to Hillcrest I had trouble reading questions on tests and the teachers would not help me.  If I made a failing grade on a test, I had to correct it but it did not change my grade and when I didn’t bring my homework I would have to set out in recess 5 minutes for every bad thing.  I WANTED TO PLAY.

At Hillcrest, I can play with friends and my recess is never taken away.  That is fun and makes me smile!  If I make a low grade on a test, I correct it and my grade is raised. On a test, the teachers read it to me so I can answer it.  The teachers are nice, loving, and good.  They take time for me.  I really like the small classes.  There is less noise.

MY VOICE

The summer before my 6th grade year I was begging my parents not to make me go back to “that” school.  It was a miserable first week.  The teachers were already putting kids in study hall and guess who the first one was: me.

But then I came to Hillcrest School.  The caring, kind, and loving people at Hillcrest are nice to me.  If I didn’t go to this school, I would be running laps almost every day for each homework paper I had missed.  Besides, all of the kids here are very special in a very special way.  We don’t ever pick on one another, nor do we hurt each other because no one’s perfect.  God made us all like we are for one reason:  to have friends.
